Islamabad: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Overseas Pakistanis Zulfi Bukhari, who is also the Chairman of the Tourism Development Corporation (TDC), announced on Monday (July 13) that Pakistan will construct more than 32 three-star and 5-star hotels within the next two years to promote tourism, a news source reported.

While talking to the media, the SAPM further revealed that Pakistan will soon be hosting the World Tourism Forum 2021. The event had been planned to take place in 2020, but it was postponed due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak. The 5-day long event is expected to attract 1,000 foreign visitors, said Bukhari.
The TDC chairman also disclosed that the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation’s operations hadn’t been terminated, but had been temporarily shut down for restructuring. The planned reforms will help improve the functions of the corporation.

Talking about the construction of the planned hotels in the country, Bukhari said that these units will be built in the next two years — with the initiative aimed at developing compatible hospitality facilities in the country in accordance with its tourism potential.
