Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari emphasized the enduring bond between Pakistan and China during a meeting with Mr. Luo Zhaohui, Chairman of China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), and his delegation at Aiwan-e-Sadr on April 24th. Zardari highlighted the imperative to fortify this relationship, particularly in trade, economy, agriculture, cultural exchange, and fostering people-to-people connections, according to news sources.
Echoing Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Zardari stressed its strategic significance and pledged full support for its timely completion. He underscored the pivotal role of Gwadar Port in enhancing regional connectivity and cost-effective transportation of goods to China. Zardari proposed collaborative training initiatives to meet China’s demand for skilled labor.
Mr. Luo Zhaohui briefed President Zardari on CIDCA’s contributions to Pakistan’s socio-economic development, particularly in health, education, and disaster relief efforts. He advocated for bolstering tourism and agricultural collaboration between the two nations.
Zardari expressed gratitude to China for its support and vital role in Pakistan’s economic progress. He commended CIDCA’s assistance in flood relief, school reconstruction, and housing projects for Lady Health Workers in Sindh and Balochistan. The meeting was attended by Ambassador Jiang Zaidong, Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission Dr. Jahanzeb Khan, and senior officials from both governments.
