Islamabad: Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong recently announced that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), has brought USD 25.4 billion in direct investment to Pakistan, according to a news article on November 13.

Pursuant to the insights from the ambassador, the Corridor has successfully generated 236,000 jobs, 510 km of highways, over 8,000 megawatts of electricity, and 886 km of transmission networks. These investments contribute to Pakistan’s infrastructure and energy development, benefiting its economy and people.
The Ambassador shared these figures while addressing students during a visit to NUML University, where he also reflected on his own educational journey, encouraging students to work hard and pursue knowledge. Ambassador Jiang expressed his admiration for Pakistan’s strategic position in Asia, its young population, and its rich resources, highlighting Pakistan’s production of commodities like cotton, mangoes, and wheat.

He also noted the recent economic stabilisation efforts by Pakistan’s government, including positive GDP growth, lower inflation, and improved foreign exchange reserves.
