Islamabad: Pakistan has earned USD 876.46 million from information technology (IT) services exports in the first quarter of the fiscal year 2024-25, according to a November 26.

Pursuant to the details, the growth has marked a robust 33.69% growth compared to USD 655.61 million in the same period last year, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). The computer services sector led the growth with a 39.38% increase, generating USD 744.57 million, up from USD 534.22 million last year.
Within this sector, software consultancy services experienced a significant rise of 39.68%, reaching USD 254.74 million. Hardware consultancy services also saw an 18.51% increase to USD 1.72 million, while repair and maintenance services surged by 102.12% to USD 0.58 million. Exports of other computer services showed remarkable growth of 77.15%, climbing to USD 348.24 million. However, exports of computer software services declined by 9.27%, falling to USD 139.29 million.
Information services exports witnessed an exceptional growth of 1148.24%, rising to USD 9.01 million from just USD 0.72 million in the previous year. This was driven primarily by a dramatic 2141.76% increase in news agency services, which surged to USD 8.65 million. Other information services exports also grew modestly by 8.35%, reaching USD 0.36 million.
Telecommunication services exports rose slightly by 1.83%, totalling USD 122.87 million compared to USD 120.66 million last year. Notably, call centre services exports grew by 25.63% to USD 68.35 million, while other telecommunication services declined by 17.71% to USD 54.52 million.

The data highlights Pakistan’s expanding footprint in global IT markets, underscoring the strong performance of key sub-sectors, particularly in computer and information services.
