Islamabad: Pakistan and Azerbaijan have agreed to promote bilateral trade ties including investment in various sectors in Pakistan, news sources reported on June 1. The relations also include the purchase of petroleum products to overcome energy issues.

As per the reports, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Khazar Farhadov, met with the Minister of Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ayaz Sadiq. Both countries agreed to strengthen cooperation in areas such as business, finance, information technology, tourism, energy, sports, health, and transportation, and they agreed to convene Joint Working Group meetings on these topics. The restoration of direct flights between the two nations, according to the ambassador, would also boost bilateral and people-to-people connections, which will benefit both countries.

On the occasion, the minister emphasised the necessity of strong economic ties between the two countries. To achieve strong bilateral relations, he recommended increasing trade volume, including the establishment of an import line between the two countries that will benefit both. The minister also stated that Pakistan is interested in expanding energy cooperation, with the country importing LNG, LPG, and gas supplies from Azerbaijan to assist alleviate the country’s present petroleum shortage.
