Islamabad: Pakistan and Azerbaijan have agreed to significantly ramp up their bilateral investment collaboration, aiming to reach a substantial USD 2 billion mark in mutual projects, as reported on July 12.

According to the news details, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, alongside Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev, highlighted the potential during a joint press briefing following the signing of multiple agreements and MoUs between the two nations. We have discussed an initial target of USD 2 billion for investments in mutually beneficial projects,” stated Prime Minister Sharif, anticipating further agreements during his upcoming visit to Azerbaijan in November. He emphasised the immense potential to surpass this figure in the years ahead.

The leaders also focused on boosting bilateral trade and exploring new avenues for joint cooperation. Prime Minister Sharif expressed satisfaction with the discussions, noting the shared commitment to advancing trade and investment ties. Reflecting on historical solidarity, Prime Minister Sharif underscored Pakistan’s consistent support for Azerbaijan, reciprocated by Azerbaijan’s longstanding backing for Kashmiri self-determination. He highlighted the symbolic significance of President Aliyev’s visit, reminiscent of his previous visit during the tenure of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
