Islamabad: Ambassador of Turkmenistan Atadjan Movlamov recently held a meeting with Interim Federal Minister for Energy Muhammad Ali and discussed the progress of the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India (TAPI) Gas Pipeline, according to news published on August 25. Both envoys agreed to expedite the pace of the project, which is pivotal for the countries involved.

During the meeting, Energy Minister Ali emphasized the significance of gas for Pakistan’s economy. ‘Given the country’s growing energy needs, projects like these require a proactive approach,’ he stated.
Minister Ali also reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to the TAPI project. The host government agreement (HGA) is anticipated to be finalized in October through mutual agreement. Additionally, regular meetings of the working group for the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) electricity project will expedite its progress, he noted.

The minister pointed out that Turkmenistan and Pakistan mutually recognize each other as strategic partners. The TAPI project will not only address the escalating energy requirements of Pakistan but also provide an avenue for regional connectivity and enhanced economic growth.
