As per the details, the authority stated that buildings constructed under the layout plans approved by the CDA were in accordance with the building code of 2007. However, the buildings developed outside the sectors didn’t get approvals from CDA and the agency does not know their structural stability.
To overcome this issue, the civic agency ordered all commercial building owners to submit structural stability certificates issued by certified engineers. The CDA disclosed that strict action will be taken against the building owners who failed to submit the said certificates.

It is pertinent to note that until 2017, there was only one Building Control Directorate to handle all matters related to buildings in the CDA’s sectors. Then Building Control Directorate II was later set up for buildings in other sectors and Building Control III for rural areas.
