Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation (RMC) and the City District Council have issued notices to the owners of 280 dilapidated buildings, reported a new source. These notice contain directions to vacate the buildings on an immediate basis.

Due to the recent heavy downpour received by the city, dripping incidents were reported in old buildings. Reportedly, similar issues were served in the past. To implement the orders this time, RMC has warned that the owners failing to comply with the order will face legal charges. In addition, RMC might also demolish these buildings.

As per the news source, the dilapidated buildings identified by the corporation are located in following areas;
- Bhabhara Bazar
- Sarafa Bazar
- Purana Qila
- Shah Chan Chiragh
- Jamia Masjid Road
- Mohala Niyarian
- Waris Khan
- Ikaal Garh
- Kartarpura
- Chatian Hatian
- Bohar Bazar
- Moti Bazar
- Pul Nazar Shah
- Trunk Bazar
- Bani Mohala
- Ghazni Road
- Adjoining areas of Lal Haweli
Some of these buildings in the mentioned areas have three to four floors and are over 100 years old. Due their poor conditions, rental price of flats in such buildings is low, which is the main reason why tenants are reluctant to leave.
