Peshawar: The authorities concerned have provided financial assistance amounting to PKR 18bn to the residents of the former Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), whose properties were destroyed during the years of conflict in the region–a news source reported.

So far, the official steering committees have completed the verification procedure of about 72,000 out of the total 111,824 residential properties located in five districts. This initiative forms part of the Citizen Losses Compensation Programme (CLCP).
In 2015, the then federal government had launched CLCP in five tribal districts of the former FATA region: South Waziristan, North Waziristan, Orakzai, Khyber, and Kurram.

As per reports, the officials concerned have distributed cheques worth PKR 18.4 billion among the affectees. The remaining 39,582 claims have yet to be verified for possible compensation. The steering committee recently requested the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) finance department to release additional funds worth PKR 1.094 billion for these respective tribal districts.
