According to news, thousands of owners, who put down their hard earned money to purchase plots in new housing societies of Lahore, have still not gotten the possession. Sources say that that these owners have been left at the mercy of property tycoons and despite passing of due dates, they still have not got the possession of their plots.
Sources also say that these owners are the ones who have invested their hard earned money and have been dreaming to own homes in societies. These owners have been making payments for the last three or so years but still they have not gotten the possession. Moreover, the development work has also not started so far. Some owners who invested their hard earned money in Eden Lands – 1 scheme, which is situated on Ferozepur Road near Gajjumata Rohi Nulla, have also reported that despite the lapse of the dates, they have not been given possession.
One of the victims, Ghulam Rasool, says that he booked a plot of five-marla in Eden Lands – 1 scheme some three months and eight years ago. He also says that besides paying an instalment of Rs 10,975 per month, he has also been paying Rs 1,500 per month as development charges. He was promised by administration to get the possession of plot after three years. Now even after the lapse of extra eight months, he has neither been given possession nor has the development work started yet.
Ghulam Rasool further adds that he once delayed the instalments for two months and management of society fined him Rs 65,000. He had to take loan from a friend to clear this amount. Now when the society has also delayed the possession and has not stated construction work yet, he must also be fined for that.
