Lahore is one of the most desirable cities of Pakistan to live in and there are countless reasons why it enjoys such a unique status in Pakistan real estate. One such factor contributing is continuous development of infrastructure in the city and addition of needed facilities for its residents.
Especially during the last few years, the transformation of Lahore, from a crowded and miss managed city to a modern and facilitated metropolitan, is evident from dozens of known projects. Some of these prominent projects include Ring Road, extension of Canal Bank Road, Kalma Chowk Fly Over, widening and reconstruction of lanes and services roads as well as construction of new parking plazas and public service centres.
Lahore Development Authority is the sole body taking care of city’s management and development on the instructions of the concerned authorities. Although, there has been some cases of corruptions reported against the officials of LDA but the overall performance of the Authority has been commendable. From managing auctions of residential and commercial plots and houses and shops to ensuring in time delivery of the under construction projects, LDA has helped the city reach closer to its dream status.
At present, there are several development projects going in Lahore and many are in pipeline, including widening of Allama Iqbal Road leading to Multan Road, improvement and widening of Raiwind Road, Rapid Mass Transit System, parking plaza on Ferozpur Road, Metro Bus Service, and overall beautification of the greenbelts and roadsides. The most interesting thing about these projects is that they have all been completed in time with promised quality.
There is half of the year before next election and the residents of Lahore expect to see some more projects to make their life easier and more facilitated. It is important that the concerned authorities should take the measure to fix increasing air, sound and water pollution, sewerage issues, traffic overload, power shortage, public transport facilities, and related services.
