Karachi: Overseas Pakistanis have remitted USD 14.6064 billion so far in first nine months of the current fiscal year, stated a news report. This is a growth of 3.56 per cent against the remittances received during the same period in the previous fiscal year.
During March 2018, the workers’ remittances totalled at $1,772.77 million. This number is 22.24% higher than that recorded in in February 2018 and 4.62 percent higher than that calculated in March 2017, according to a statement issued by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
In March 2018, the inflows from Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, the United States, the United Kingdom, GCC countries (including Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and Oman) and European Union amounted to USD 427.62 million, USD 420.24 million, USD 236.17 million, USD 244.2 million, USD 183.79 million and USD 58.89 million respectively as compared to the inflow of around USD 504.61 million, USD 362.94 million, USD 213.42 million, USD 209.14 million, USD 197.21 million and USD 38.85 million respectively during the previous years.
The remittances from Malaysia, Norway, Switzerland, Australia, Canada, Japan and other countries during March 2018 totalled at USD 201.86 million collectively, against USD 168.32 million received in March 2017.
