Islamabad: In August 2024, remittances sent by overseas Pakistanis surged by 40% to USD 2.943 billion, compared to USD 2.094 billion in the same month last fiscal year, as reported by a news source on September 10.

According to the details, this marks the fourth consecutive month that remittances have remained near or above USD 3 billion, with US 3.242 billion in May, USD 3.158 billion in June, and USD 2.994 billion in July 2024.
However, August 2024 saw a slight 2% month-on-month decline compared to July’s USD 2.994 billion. The main sources of remittances for August were Saudi Arabia (USD 713 million), the UAE (USD 538 million), the UK (USD 475 million), and the US (USD 322 million).

For the first two months of FY25, total remittances have risen by 44% to USD 5.937 billion, compared to last year.
