Lahore: To control the traffic situation, curb road accidents and facilitate patients’ attendants, the construction of overhead bridges has been planned opposite Jinnah Hospital, Services Hospital and Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC), reported a news source. In this regard, Lahore City Traffic Police Officer have already submitted an application to the departments concerned.
Almost all public hospitals have laboratories and medical stores scattered around them. This causes constant movement from hospitals to these outlets. And since many are located across the road, the routine commute has been found responsible for increasing roadside accidents.
The overhead pedestrian bridges on roads having public hospitals were also demanded by the citizens. According to sources, recommendations for construction of pedestrian bridges opposite main entrances of Jinnah Hospital, Services Hospital, and PIC have been submitted.
A few days ago, the authorities concerned also received directives from Punjab Health Minister Professor Yasmin Rashid to set shelter homes for patients’ attendants in public hospitals. The measures are being taken as an initiative to make Pakistan a welfare state.
