Gujranwala: The number of illegal commercial buildings in Gujranwala have crossed the 8,000 mark, a news source reported. This has been attributed to administrative difficulties, and has been brought to the commissioner’s notice.

Although the district administration has recovered PKR 200 million in consortium fees from the owners, many of these buildings haven’t been regularised yet. Furthermore, the process of approving pending map requests is also on hold.

According to details, the developers of these buildings started construction work without getting the building maps approved or getting an NOC from the Gujranwala Development Authority (GDA).

The commissioner also ordered that the developers of illegal buildings be issued legal notices so that the GDA can take legal action. Relevant sources also revealed that the Government of Punjab has given clear instructions to register FIRs against such developers.
