Gujranwala: More than 130,000 individuals filed their income tax returns in the Gujranwala division, a news source reported. They belonged to the government as well as private sectors, industries, and trade sectors, among others.
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) had set the target of tax collection from 200,000 individuals. However, around 130,000 individuals filed their tax returns.
To facilitate the filers, the officials concerned had set up 17 counters in Gujranwala, three in Hafizabad, and 19 in Sialkot, Narowal, and Gujrat. Multiple teams were tasked with the collection of taxes.
The deadline expired on December 17 after the board extended the last date from December 15. The deadline was automatically extended as the last date of filing of returns fell on a non-working day. As per General Clauses Act, the closing date was automatically extended to the next working day December 17.
Meanwhile, the Excise Department has decided to include two cities in Wazirabad Tehsil in property tax bracket. The cities are Rasool Nagar and Sohdra.
