Lahore: Local Government Secretary Ahmed Javaid Qazi recently revealed that the ‘Baldiaonline’ app was downloaded by more than 100,000 users in a single day — a news source reported on August 19. The new app was made available on Google Play on August 18, and has been launched by the Punjab Local Government and Community Development Department (LG&CD), in collaboration with the Punjab Information and Technology Board (PITB).

Qazi further disclosed that the app had initially contained only six major features; however, it still managed to be one of the top trending apps in just a single day. He added that during the launch phase, the app had received requests for registration of 947 births, 552 deaths, 110 marriages, 20 divorces, 777 complaints, and 387 suggestions.

The secretary additionally revealed that Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar is set to formally inaugurate the project under which the Baldiaonline app has been launched later this week. As a result, in addition to the online app, people will also be able to obtain birth certificates from the 111 field offices located across the province.
