Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Usman Buzdar on Wednesday provided his approval to the recruitment of 1,400 traffic wardens against several vacant posts in the city’s Traffic Police department, a news source reported. Further, he directed the officials concerned to re-launch anti-encroachment operations in Lahore. He also approved five development projects, including construction of flyovers and underpasses, to facilitate vehicular movement in the city on the same day.

He expressed his views on the matter during a meeting to discuss proposals for improving the traffic system in Lahore. Chief Traffic Officer and ACS (Home) presented ideas to help improve the traffic system. These proposals included providing information about traffic laws in the educational curriculum.

In response, Buzdar directed the departments concerned to prepare the curriculum on this front He added that special attention should be given to road engineering practices. He added that a good traffic system was the identity of a civilised society, ‘which is why improving our traffic flow and creating ease of movement for citizens is a top priority of the government’.
