Rawalpindi: The building control department has demolished over 100 illegal shops, warehouses, showrooms, and shades as part of the ongoing anti-encroachment drive, a news source reported. The demolition drive was carried out on High Court Road.
Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Director General Mehr Muhammad Hayat issued the directives, saying the departments concerned should carry out an indiscriminate drive against illegal structures and establishments.
LHC Rawalpindi Bench Justice Ibaad-ur-Rehman had earlier directed the district administration, the Municipal Corporation, and cantonment boards to remove all encroachments by the year-end.
He also told the authorities concerned to retrieve state land from illegal occupants, adding that the court would not tolerate any more delays in the operation against encroachments and other illegal structures.
