Islamabad: The cabinet committee tasked with outsourcing the major airports of the country on Thursday held its first meeting, where the stakeholders were asked to come up with viable options in a week, according to news sources.
The meeting was presided over by the Committee Chairman and Adviser to the Prime Minister on Commerce and Investment Razak Dawood, who asked the members to finalise their proposals for the cabinet’s review.

Reportedly, the cabinet committee on outsourcing of airports has been constituted by the federal government to explore additional means for channelling international investments into the major national airports. Sources reveal that the meeting discussed regulatory parts and commercial operations of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

Moreover, the PM’s adviser highlighted huge potential in airport-related commercial activities that can be harnessed by bringing in the experience and knowledge of major international aviation experts. He stressed that the non-aeronautical activities (duty-free shops, commercial outlets and restaurants) can reap benefit from these aviation experts’ knowledge. He opined that the foreign direct investment (FDI) always leads to socio-economic development in a country and create employment opportunities.
