Islamabad: Advisor to Prime Minister on Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Babar Awan has instructed the authority concerned to remove illegal settlements form Sector I-12 on an immediate basis, reported a news source. The orders were issued to help clear the sector illegally setup kachi abadis for carrying out the long-delayed development work in this sector.
Talking about encroachments, Awan said that Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has given a road map to rid government land of illegal occupation. The single point agenda of this road map is that Islamabad Administration and the Capital Development Authority will free parks, greenbelts and playgrounds from illegal occupation and submit a report in three days. This report is to be presented in the cabinet meeting.
Awan, while heading a high level meeting in commissioner office earlier this week, also said that NOCs of the housing societies having no space reserved for public parks and graveyards will be canceled. He also indicated that new tourist spots will be created in Islamabad.
During the same meeting, Awan also issued orders to stop felling of trees in D-12 and all other areas of the federal capital. He also revealed some details on the government’s plan for forest protection and promotion, called the 10 Billion Tree Tsunami. Under this programme, 10 billion trees will be planted in Pakistan.
