Justice Gulzar Ahmed, who heads the three-judge bench, conducted the proceedings to this effect on a petition submitted through senior counsel Rasheed A Razvi.
The petition maintained that the dam’s construction is responsible for blocking the inflow of fresh water to Manchar Lake. It requested the apex court to giver orders for the provision of early funds for the project.
In response, the bench ordered the parties concerned to issue funds to the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) on an immediate basis. It should be noted that WAPDA is the executing agency for the Nai Gam dam project.
