Rawalpindi: Punjab Wildlife and Parks Director General Suhail Ashraf has announced a three-week deadline for the up-gradation of Lohi Bher Wildlife Park, a news source reported. He has also issued directives for the revival of the lion safari on an immediate basis.
He said that the Punjab government had already completed its plan for the development of the park, which would commence in a day or two. In the first phase of this plan, the lion safari will be developed and in the next phase the park will be renovated, he added.
The director general expressed the hope that this project would serve as a ‘pleasant recreational outlet’ for the residents of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, and would attract a large number of visitors due to its prime location.
He explained that according to the plan, the road that leads to the park from the Islamabad Expressway will be reconstructed, along with the cages for the lions. He said that ponds and water streams in the park would be cleaned and saplings would be added in the park to provide a more natural environment.
