Lahore: The Punjab Government has planned to inaugurate the Orange Line Metro Train Project by 31st May, 2018, according to a news report. The government has deployed additional workforce on different parts of the 21.7 km long track to meet this timeline, as 40% to 50% electrical and mechanical work is yet to be completed.
The project comprises of various packages, and sources have revealed that mechanical and electrical work on Package-II lags behind. However, Chairman of the steering committee on OLMTP Khawaja Ahmad Hassan said that work is well underway and will be completed by 31st May, 2018.
The Chief Justice of Pakistan has already given orders to complete the project as soon as possible as the ongoing construction is affecting the commuters. However, despite the urgency to complete the project soon, it is worth noting that the commuters will only be able to benefit from the project by mid-August, as it will run for a trial period of two months.
