Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has decided to launch a grand operation against 800 illegal buildings in the city – a news source reported.
The civic agency previously issued notices to the owners of illegal plazas and buildings. It also warned of a crackdown against violators after the expiry of the notice period.

RDA Chairman Arif Abbasi has sought a report regarding illegal constructions in the garrison city. The civic agency will carry out its anti-encroachment operation in Sher Pao Colony and Asghar Mall Scheme.
Moreover, RDA is working on a residential project for government employees. It will establish two separate schemes, which will feature houses and farmhouses.

Meanwhile, the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has announced a two-to-three year grace period for registering unapproved constructions.
RCB plans to regularise all illegal structures in the cantonment area. Owners of these properties will be given sufficient time to get their building plans approved.
