Gujranwala: The operation against landowners giving their property on rent without sharing details with the local police station has been started, reported a news source. In this regard, a list of tenants has also been prepared.
The orders for carrying out the operation were issued by Punjab Inspector General. To keep record of the tenants as the law specifies it, the district police has also started to prepare lists of tenants in their respective areas.
Under this operation, legal action will be taken against illegal tenants, the landowners who leased property to them and those who issued guarantee for these tenants. The operation will be carried out indiscriminately. Those found guilty will face legal charges and they might as well be sentenced to serve a term in jail.
The activity will also help police to find out if the wanted criminals or anti-state figures are hiding in these houses. To further ensure that the record of tenants is collected without any flaw, Gujranwala Central Police Officer has said that legal action will be taken against the respective station house officers if a non-registered tenant is found in any area.
