Peshawar: On the instruction of Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) Director General (DG) Syed Zafar Ali Shah, PDA Additional Assistant Commissioner Rizwana Dar has started operation cleanup against encroachers in Karkhano Market, a news source reported.
In order to avoid any resistance, the assistant commissioner contracted the services of the local police department. During the first day of the operation, the PDA demolition squad used heavy machinery to remove illegal constructed structures, shades and cabins in the market.
Speaking to the media, Dar said that that the PDA had issued notices prior to commencing with the operation; directing the shopkeepers to remove the encroachment on their own. The operation was started only after the shopkeepers refused to follow the instructions.
