Peshawar: Peshawar Cantt Magistrate Qurat-ul-Ain is leading the operation launched against property tax defaulters in several commercial areas of the city. The magistrate, along with the tax recovery staff, recently visited 113 commercial units in Saddar area to recover property taxes.

As per reports, she ordered her staff to seal 78 commercial units, warehouses, and office on accounts of non-payment of property taxes. The sealed units are located in various markets – including Qazi Market, Peer Alam Market, Super Market, Shafi Market, Blue Plaza, and Sadat Plaza.

According to officials concerned, owners of various shops and plazas in Saddar have yet to pay property taxes worth PKR 20 million. So far, they have failed to clear their dues despite repeated official notices.
Several property owners have reportedly sought a day’s time to clear their property dues. The tax recovery officers will resume the operation in case of non-compliance on part of these individuals.

The Cantt magistrate has reiterated that operation against tax defaulters will continue without any discrimination.
