Gujranwala: For crackdown against illegal housing societies in the city, Gujranwala Development Authority (GDA) has prepared a list of 234 such projects, a news source reported. The operation will be launched in collaboration with the police and officials from Anti-Corruption Department.
According to sources from GDA, a total of 234 housing societies in Gujranwala have been set up without having a formal NOC issued. Developers of these societies have also been engaged and selling plots to public all that while. Some of these societies are also home to the respective owners.
The developers of these societies breached the building bylaws by not reserving spaces for graveyard, mosque, parks, schools and hospitals etc. These societies also have streets and roads narrower than the standard width. Some of these societies have also initiated the development work, while their property files have been laying with the departments concerned for inspection.
GDA Director Town Planning Ijaz Akbar Bhatti, who has lately been assigned the task to sort the matters concerning illegal housing schemes in the city, said that he has completed the list of projects against which legal actions are to be taken.
