Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has postponed its operations against illegally constructed marriage halls on orders of the LDA Director General, according to a news source. The decision was taken due to the ongoing unrest in the provincial capital.
Reportedly, the operation was launched on the orders of Punjab Chief Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, which has now been delayed for the second time. The Town Planning Wing of LDA was assigned the task of launching a crackdown against unapproved marriage halls and marquees. During the initial days of the operation, the LDA sealed 16 out of the 156 illegal marriage halls.
