Multan: The District Administration has launched a mega drive against encroachment, where the officials demolished several permanent and temporary structures in many parts of the city, a news source reported. Multan Regional Transport Secretary Kamran Bukhari said that the operation will continue till the eradication of all encroachments in the city.

The secretary supervised one of these operations launched under the first phase on Vehari Chowk. Several other departments, including Civil Defence, Municipal Corporation Multan, Multan Development Authority, participated in the operation. The members of the Anti-encroachment Squad razed illegally built structures on Vehari Chowk, and cleared the road for smooth traffic flow.

In the operations carried out under the other phases, the squad removed encroachments on the road linking Vehari Chowk with the Bypass, which connects Vehari Chowk with Naubahar Bridge, and Vehari Chowk with Bahawalpur Road.

Speaking to the media, Secretary Bukhari said that the operation is being carried out on the instructions of the Multan Deputy Commissioner Amir Khattak. He also mentioned that clearing the city of encroachment practices is his main priority.
