Lahore: The City District Government conducted an operation against encroachments in the city’s famous commercial hubs, Shah Alam Markat and Rang Mahal, reported a news source. The operation was carried under the supervision of Lahore Assistant Commissioner Safdar Virk, while a police force was also present to control any resistance.
Similar operations were carried out in Raiwind and Model Town yesterday. During the operations, land measuring 180 kanals was retrieved from illegal occupation.
The anti-encroachment drive in Shah Alam Market essentially came along with the demolition of illegally construction ramps and shutters and other temporary and permanent structures.
To deal with illegal shops, structures and buildings constructed on government land, Phase II of the anti-encroachment operation will be launched soon. Under this particular operation, the City District Government will deal with the buildings, shops, structures and several-storey high plazas in Shah Alam Market after getting complete details on these.
