Kaghan: Commissioner Hazara Division Riaz Khan Mahsood stated on Saturday that an anti-encroachment operation in Kaghan and Naran has been completed during which the officials recovered 800 Kanal of land worth PKR 4 billion, a news source reported. The anti-encroachment operation was carried out on the orders of Prime Minister Imran Khan, Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan.

As per the details, the officials demolished 6,000 cabins, six hotels, and 22 unlawful structures that were built on the state land. The authorities also give a 15-day deadline to the owners of 290 hotels channelling sewage water to the Kunhar River to find alternate arrangements. Reportedly, the operation met resistance from the locals and business owners.

According to news reports shared on July 10, Mansehra Deputy Commissioner Dr Qasim Ali Khan had indicated that an anti-encroachment operation will be launched soon in Kaghan and Naran with the goal of protecting the ecology of these districts and attracting tourists. He had also mentioned that illegally set up cabins and unlawful structures near the Saiful Malook Lake will be demolished. These measures were planned to protect and preserve the natural beauty of these destinations.
