Peshawar: On the instructions of Peshawar Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali Asghar, the District Administration staff launched a mega crackdown against encroachments in the city, reported a news source. On account of encroaching on roads and footpaths, the administration also arrested 72 shopkeepers and venders.

The District Administration carried out the operation under the supervision of Peshawar Assistant Commissioner Sara Rehman. In this crackdown, the authority dealt with encroachers blocking roads and footpaths in Chowk Yadgar, Khyber Bazar, Ashraf Road, Qissa Khwani Bazar, Shoba Chowk, and Namak Mandi.

The administration took assistance from Peshawar Police to avoid any untoward situations.
During the operation, the District Administration also confiscated goods exhibited on the roads.
Sharing details regarding this operation, Peshawar Deputy Commissioner Asghar said that he has been receiving complaints regarding encroachment activities since it causes problems for pedestrians and disrupts the traffic flow.
He also mentioned that the people arrested due to their encroachment practices had received several warnings in the past.
