Lahore: In a meeting presided over by Lahore Deputy Commissioner Capt (R) Anwar-ul-Haq, it has been decided that operation against permanent and temporary encroachments in the city will start from Monday, reported a news source. The meeting was attended by senior officials from Lahore Development Authority (LDA), Walled City Authority, Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL), Police and Water and Power Development Authority.
Speaking to the meeting members, Haq said that thorough coordination is needed to carry out the operation effectively. Shedding lights on its mechanics, he said that the operation will be launched in phases. And to further ensure success of the drive launched against encroacher, Had also inspected the machinery to be used for the operation.
The officer from the respective departments briefed Haq on the existing encroachments in their respective areas. MCL has a list of encroachments at 47 different areas in the city, while the LDA has divided its plan in six phases. The meeting members also agreed to arrest those who will resist the operation.
To avoid any unfortunate situation, new notices will be sent to the encroachers. Haq also advises the encroachers to demolish these structures on their own before Monday.
