Lahore: Property tax and all other taxes imposed at the provincial level will be collected online from May 31, 2019 onwards, reported a news source. Punjab Finance Minister Makhdoom Jawan Bakhat Hasim shared this information. He was chairing the maiden meeting of the resource mobilisation committee on Thursday.
The provincial government is also looking to include private sector in the committee formed for resource mobilisation. These measures are parts of the government’s effort to increase its income in from all possible tax and non-tax revenue.
Minister Hashim instructed all provincial departments to submit their proposals for resource mobilisation by the end of March. He also insisted on presentation of new proposals instead of sharing decade old impractical ideas.

He also asked official representing Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) to share list of items and services exempted of General Sales Tax. While the minister mentioned that the government is looking to increase its non-tax revenue, the demanded list is meant to increase tax collection scope.

The meeting members shared their valuable feedback on offering services to the citizens. One of these suggestions was to bring tax collection under one department. Withdrawal of all subsides was another suggestion presented before the minister.
Minister Hashim asked the officers representing Excise and Taxation Department and PRA to present their proposal on new taxes in three weeks.
