Islamabad: Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Omar Ayub Khan was briefed by World Bank (WB) Country Director Najy Benhassine on the 54 ongoing projects in Pakistan, according to news published on Thursday (February 10).

A review meeting was held to check the progress of 54 projects being financed by WB with an accumulative worth of USD 12.4 billion. The meeting was attended by senior officials of the Economic Affairs Division (EAD) and the WB team. Out of the total projects, 23 projects, worth USD 7.8 billion are being executed by the federal government. So far, USD 3.4 billion has been disbursed for the projects.
During the meeting, the projects related to the energy sector were discussed, which includes Dasu Hydropower (Stage 1) Project, Tarbela Fourth Extension Hydropower Project, and National Transmission Modernization Project. The minister ordered to speed up the implementation of Islamabad West Substation so the work on the Dasu Hydropower Project can be expedited.
Moreover, the meeting informed Minister Khan of the National Immunization Support Project that will be completed by June 2022. Other projects that were discussed in the meeting were National Health Support Program, Resilient Institutions to Sustainable Economy (RISE-II), Pakistan Housing Finance (Additional Financing), and Program for Affordable & Clean Energy (PACE-II).
