Lahore: A review petition has been filed by the Civil Society on the verdict given by the larger bench of Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP), allowing construction work to resume on the Orange Line Metro Train Project (OLMTP), according to a news source. The petitioner said that the bench ignored the points mentioned in the judgement given earlier by the Lahore High Court.
Representing the Civil Society, Advocate Azhar Siddique said that the historical monuments located on the train’s route are at stake. Azhar also mentioned that the safety points shared by the bench for protection of the historical sites are insufficient. He also alleged that the Government of Punjab is not following the SCP’s directions for protecting the historical monuments, posing a serious threat to the city’s heritage.
