Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has ordered that payments to contractors engaged for Orange Line Metro Train Project (OLMTP) are to be made in five days, reported a news source. The case was being heard by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar.
The CJP also enquired if the project is being carried out as per the orders earlier issued by the apex court. The attorney of companies engaged for the project informed the court that dues haven’t been cleared from March 2018, to which OLMTP In-Charge Sibtain Ali said that Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has been given the funds. LDA DG assured the court that funds will be released after the board meeting in one week.
According to another news source, Mass Transit Authority has requested Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar to release additional funds worth PKR 15 billion for the project. In this regard, a summary has also been sent to Buzdar. The additional funds will be used for completing civil works and initiating development work on two more packages of the project.
