Lahore: The Punjab government has established a committee to oversee the Orange Line Metro Train (OLMT) project, a news source reported. This committee will be responsible for ensuring that reasonable fares are determined with the assistance of experts. This measure will help provide an affordable method of transportation for the commuters, as well as prevent any burden on the provincial exchequer.

Punjab Chief Secretary Yousaf Naseem Khokhar attended a briefing, during which he said that train fares must be determined along scientific lines by hiring experts to provide affordable transportation to the passengers. He added that maximum number of facilities should be provided to the public. He elaborated that all necessary facilities should be arranged at the stations.
The officials concerned attending the meeting presented a comprehensive review of facilities and fares based on international standards.
Meanwhile, the committee formed is comprised of Planning & Development chairman, secretary transport, finance secretary, and NESPAK managing director. These officials will review the matters of concern as mentioned above, thereby, the committee will present its recommendations to the Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar.

Khokhar also stressed that as directed by CM Buzdar, the OLMT project should be completed at the earliest to cater to larger public interest. He also reviewed the pace of ongoing work on the project, and took several important decisions for its timely completion.
