Karachi: The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) recently discovered huge oil and gas reserves in the province of Sindh — consisting of approximately 95 trillion cubic feet shale gas and 14 billion of stock tank barrels oil, a news source reported. The government authority revealed this information to the media on Saturday, and added that, as per estimates, the gas reserves might be significant enough to fulfill the country’s energy needs for the next 90 years.

The company discovered oil and gas reserves at its Exploratory Well Tog number 1 in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s (KP) Kohat district in October. Preliminary reports showed that the well could produce 50 barrels of crude oil and 4.1 million standard cubic feet of gas per day. In august, it was discovered that another reserve was situated in Kohat in KP.

In June (earlier this year) the department had announced the discovery of a reserve of oil and gas in Sanghar district, Sindh. The OGDCL had been planning on drilling in more areas around the province in order to hopefully discover even more reserves in the region.
