Karachi: A security survey, recently conducted by the Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce & Industry (OICCI), has revealed drastic improvements in foreign-investor confidence in the country, a news source reported. The survey, conducted in June 2019, showcased a 65% increase in the visits made by the OICCI central management to Pakistan.

The chamber revealed on Tuesday that the security situation had already improved in Pakistan, according to the findings of its annual security survey conducted in 2018. It added that the latest survey showed ‘further and significant’ improvements.
OICCI President Shazia Syed said that the results of this survey were of critical importance to the foreign investors, who took the results quite seriously.
The survey indicates a 40% improvement in security situation of Balochistan. Similarly, the situation has improved more than 70% in Karachi and Lahore; the two cities which host most of the head offices of the OICCI member countries.

Moreover, the OICCI revealed that 190 representatives of the chamber contributed towards a third of the total tax collections in Pakistan for the (fiscal year) FY2018-19. They added that the member countries invested USD 2.7 billion in 2018; creating employment opportunities for one million people.
