The said proposal was made after the commencement of a public hearing where statistical analysis was executed on the data from the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and the Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL).
The oil regulatory authority issued these directions on Tuesday – after the state-operated gas distribution companies approached it to get approval for a 101% increase in prescribed gas prices from July. However, the authority rejected their demands after holding the public hearing and reduced the gas prices of SSGCL by PKR 18.30/mmbtu (2% decrease) and SNGPL by PKR 40.94/mmbtu (6.1% decrease).
