Mansehra: A small dam will be built in Nikka Pani area of Oghi tehsil to meet the irrigation and potable water needs of Darband and adjoining union councils, a news source reported.
PKR 555 million have been sanctioned for the construction of the dam, according to the nazim Raja Bashir, who was talking in a meeting of the tehsil council. He further said that it will help cultivate vast area of barren land, and will provide drinking water to a number of union councils.
Members of the council also highlighted civic issues of Oghi, and the nazim assured them of early resolution to the problems.
He stated that Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited had given PKR 2 million to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Highway Authority for repairing the Oghi-Darband Road. The work on the repair will begin after Eid-ul-Fitr.
According to Bashir, the council had approved levy on sand transportation from Nikka Pani area previously, while the same kind of levy would be imposed on mining in the next session of the council.
