Islamabad: The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) on Thursday (October 27) announced the discovery of oil reserves in the Attock district of Punjab, news sources reported.

During the mining operations, the oil reserves were discovered in the exploratory well—Toot Deep-1 Well. According to a statement issued by the administration, the operator of the Toot Mining Lease, with a 100% working interest, discovered oil from the Lokhart Formation at the Toot Deep-I Well in the Attock area. Toot Deep-1 Well found oil at a rate of 882 barrels per day and 0.93 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) gas at a wellhead flowing pressure (WHFP) of 600 pounds per square inch (psi) at a choke size of 32/64. On December 25, 2020, the Toot Deep # 01 Well was spudded in and successfully drilled down to 5,545 metres in the Tobra Formation.

It went on to say that the recent back-to-back finds in the Potohar region have prompted the adoption of aggressive techniques to explore the region for further deposits, resulting in more sustainable fossil fuel production.
