Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Thursday stated that some 21,000 non-resident Pakistanis had deposited remittances amounting USD 24 million through the government’s ‘Roshan Digital Account’ disbursement channel; adding that the number of account holders was seen to grow on a daily basis, a news source reported.

PM Khan stated that he was ‘glad’ to see overseas Pakistanis availing said digital account initiative of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and that these individuals were provided with the opportunity to remotely open their accounts.

Under the Roshan Digital Account initiative, various commercial banks are currently offering innovative banking solutions to non-resident Pakistanis seeking banking, payment and investment activities in Pakistan. So far, HBL, Bank Alfalah, MCB, Faysal Bank, Meezan Bank, Samba Bank, Standard Chartered, and UBL have introduced online account opening facility for non-resident Pakistanis.
