Rawalpindi: The Water & Sanitation Agency (WASA) on Tuesday revealed that it had completed the desilting and dredging of Nullah Leh and that it posed no danger of flooding, a news source reported. WASA Chairman Raja Tariq Mahmood Murtaza also urged the people to refrain from disposing waste into the nullah as this could cause urban flooding in the city.

Murtaza highlighted that urban flooding in Rawalpindi could cause damage to the human life and property of the citizens. He added that WASA had completed the desilting and dredging of Nullah Leh so that there was no danger of flooding for the dwellers in the area. He added that people should not dump solid waste into the nullah as this obstructed the water flow – leading to flood situation in the adjoining areas during the monsoon season.

On the other hand, District Emergency Officer Rawalpindi Dr Abdul Rehman assured that Rescue 1122 was at full alert for monsoon season and was prepared to tackle a flood-like situation.
