Lahore: The National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC) has presented a plan to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) concerned with increasing the country’s power generation capacity, according to a news report. This blueprint has been named the ‘Indicative Generation Capacity Expansion Plan (IGCEP) 2018-40’.
NTDC’s Power System Planning department formulated this plan as per the rules listed under NEPRA Grid Code 2005. A spokesman stated that the function of a power system is to provide a continuous supply of electricity around the clock. To achieve this goal, generation, transmission, and distribution need to perform well under the prevailing regulatory framework.
IGCEP aims to resolve all the current issues faced by the power sector. The plan’s supervisors include the Power Division and Federal Ministry of Energy; set to work in close cooperation with important stakeholders such as CPPA, PPIB, and the Ministry of Development, Planning and Reforms.
The spokesman further revealed that the Prime Minister’s Task Force for Energy Reforms has also reviewed this plan and put forward its suggestions.
