Toba Tek Singh: The National Productivity Organization (NPO) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Muhammad Alamgir Chaudhry has extended an invitation to the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) to be of aid in the formulation of a new industrial policy, as reported by a news source on January 2.

As disclosed by the source, CEO Chaudhry emphasised the importance of value addition in agricultural products during a meeting held at the FCCI on Monday. He announced that the NPO would furnish the FCCI with printed material in digital format, detailing the facilities available for dissemination within the industrial community. He stressed the significance of workshops organised by NPO at the provincial level, aiming to educate local farmers about these facilities. He also suggested the possibility of arranging a workshop in Faisalabad.

Addressing the issue of post-harvest losses, estimated at 35-40%, Chaudhry proposed that value addition and the development of the processing industry could help control these losses. Using examples, he demonstrated how value addition could significantly enhance the value of agricultural products, citing the case of tomatoes increasing from PKR 10 per kg to PKR 250 through value addition.Top of Form
